On Friday, it’s all about bouncing back at the Hawaii High School Athletic Association tournament.

Halia Nahale-a broke a tie with a goal midway through the fourth quarter, and Chloe Martins-Keliihoomalu netted a hat trick as the Warriors edged Kapolei 8-7 in a consolation match at Naeole Pool in Keaau.

Seeded fourth, Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion Kamehameha (13-1) will vie for its third consecutive fifth-place state finish at 12:15 p.m. today against No. 3 Lahainaluna, the Maui Interscholastic Federation champion.

Pua Wong scored twice, and Acacia Trusdell and Cassidy Fratinardo each added a goal as Kamehameha-Hawaii rebounded from a loss to Mililani, the third consecutive year the Warriors suffered their first loss of the season in the quarterfinals.

Kamehameha trailed 5-3 at halftime before going on a 4-0 spurt, and Fratinardo’s goal with 36 seconds left gave the Warriors an 8-6 lead.

Kaiser 7, Kealakehe 3: In another consolation match, Maegan Murphy tallied four goals as the OIA Cougars ended the season for the BIIF runner-up Waveriders.

Mehana Pilago, Naomi Tomlinson and Marissa Bryant-Manago each had goals for the Waveriders (9-5).

The Cougars will play Baldwin at 11 a.m. today for seventh place.

Punahou 18, Mililani 4: Kelly Fricke’s four goals put the Buffanblu in position to win their seventh straight state title.

Punahou meets Interscholastic Federation of Honolulu rival Iolani at 3 p.m. today in the final.

The Trojans of the OIA fell into the third place match, where they will face OIA champion Kahuku at 1:30 p.m. today.


Iolani 6, Kahuku 2: Mollie Taylor and Kiana Harpstrite each scored twice for the Raiders.

Lahainaluna 10, Roosevelt 5: Lalelei Mataafa found the back of the net four times as the Lunas extended their season.
