Needing their first rebound of the season, the Konawaena Wildcats responded in a big way at the Title IX Conference and Classic in Washington D.C. on Tuesday.

A day after falling to Forestville Military Academy (Maryland) 60-54 for their first loss of the season, the Lady Wildcats regrouped to defeat Myers Park (North Carolina) 60-40.

No game is a pushover at the prestigious tourney that features an international field of 48 teams playing in eight brackets. Konawaena’s first foe — Forestville — is the defending Maryland 1A state champion. Myers Park — led by Kentucky commit Chanin Scott — finished last year ranked first in North Carolina and sixth in MaxPreps Xcellent 25 rankings.

The Wildcats currently hold the No. 7 spot in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national rankings. Konawaena will play in the Patsy T. Mink bracket consolation championship against Benjamin Mays (Georgia) on Wednesday.
