Alan Orevillo
Alan Roy Orevillo, 49, died Jan. 2 in Hilo. Born in Wahiawa, Oahu, he worked for Hawaii Care Cleaning as a janitor.
Friends may call on Feb. 28 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Visitation from 5-9 p.m.; Memorial service/ celebration of his life at 7 p.m. Casual attire.
He is survived by sisters, Francine Orevillo of Hilo, Lilith Aiona of Hawaiian Paradise Park in Keaau and Sandra Bachiller of Oahu; hanai sisters, Ashley Grammer, Sierra Grammer, Jamine Smith and Jashell Smith all from Hawaii; brothers, Nathan (Leann) Orevillo of Las Vegas, Nevada, Charles (Kathy) Aiona, III of Mt. View, Dereklee Aiona of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Keaau and Alfred Bachiller of Oahu; hanai brother, James Smith, Jr. of Hawaii; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Virginia Miller
Virginia Corazon “Cora” Miller, 97, of Beaverton, Ore., previously of Ninole, Hawaii, died Feb. 10 in Beaverton, Ore. She was born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
Friends may call on Feb. 28 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel,
Visitation only from 9:30-11:30 a.m.; refreshments will be served. Casual attire; Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo at 11:45 a.m.
She is survived by sons, Carl Miller of Aloha, Oregon and Mark (Peggy) Miller of Beaverton, Oregon; one grandson and two great-granddaughters.

Gordon Palmer
Gordon Herbert Palmer, 76, of Waikoloa, Hawaii, died Feb. 2 at his residence. Born in North Hilo on Feb. 18, 1941, he was a station manager for Hawaiian Airlines in Honolulu. He was a station manager for Avis Rent A Car at the old Kona Airport, and a security officer for Securitas Security Services and Freeman Guards, Inc.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. March 10 at Big Game Fishing Clubhouse at Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Palmer of Waikoloa; sons, James Perkins and Ronald Perkins, both of Waikoloa; daughters, Denette (Gerald) Gaspar of Nanakuli, Oahu, Ebby Gleason and Laurie (Steven) Mahelona, all of Kailua-Kona, Lynette Pacheco of Laughlin, Nevada, Lisa (Alvin) Inouye of Capt. Cook, and Leilani Palmer of Joshua Tree, California; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jennie Anderson
Jennie L.K. Anderson, 78, of Waimea, died Jan. 14 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in North Kohala on Oct. 26, 1941, she was a retired bus operator for Oahu Transit Services.
Additonal services will be held on Oahu on March 1 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kaneohe with visitation at 5:30-9 p.m. with service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church at 10:30 a.m. March 2; mass at noon; burial at 2 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Marumoto of Las Vegas, NV, Adam (Nancy Ko) Marumoto of Kapolei, Oahu, and Ryan Marumoto of Honolulu; daughters, Kimberly (David Benevidez) Kainoa, Mahealani (Michelle) Yamashita, and Pamela-Jean (Kaena) Anderson Chip, all of Waimea; hanai sons, Kealoha Kepano of Washington, and Maiken Cope of Honolulu; brothers, Gordon (Rose Marie) Kainoa of Emmett, ID, Godrey (Jonelle) Kainoa, Sr., of Kawaihae, Darrell (Anna Mae) Kainoa of Emmett, Idaho; brother-in-law, William Maillard of Cochraton, Penn.; sisters, Olinda Cazimero of Waimea, Carol Ann Abiley of Waipahu, Oahu, and Delilah (Gavin) Kaimana of Kawaihae; sister-in-law, Bernadette Kainoa of Kawaihae; seven grandchildren; two aunts; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Barbara Alapai
Barbara Jean Alapai, 70, of Kahaluu, Hawaii, died Feb. 2 at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu on July 17, 1947, she was a housekeeper at the former Kona Surf Hotel and a housewife.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. March 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kealakekua. A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Alapai of Kahaluu; sons, John (Phyllis) Alapai of Kamuela, Kekio (Harmony) Alapai of Keaau, and William (Laverne) Alapai of Kealakekua; daughter, Courtney Alapai of Kahaluu; hanai son, Leroy Funk of Louisville, Ky.; brothers, William (Lydia) Mitchell of Kealakekua and George (Sharon) Smith of Oahu; hanai brother, Levi (Bernice) Mitchell of Puuanahulu; sister, Laverne Mitchell Bolosan of Oahu; hanai sisters, Momi (William) Hooper of Puuanahulu, Mary Tarpley of Puuanahulu; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; numerous hanai grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ellen Green
Ellen Lalakea Green, 89, of Waimea, and formerly of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 16 at her residence. Born April 1, 1928, in Hilo, she was retired after 30 years from Konawaena Elementary School and was a member of King’s Cathedral &Chapels in Honokaa.
A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m. March 3 at the Puukapu farm lot located at 64-840 Ainahua Alanui in Waimea. Service at 11 a.m. Luncheon to follow. Lei and flowers welcomed.
She is survived by brother, Steven (Suette) Tollefsen; daughters, Priscilla Lalakea Lorenzo of Waimea, Sudy (Leonard) Jose of Honomalino, Marcella (Greg) Wilson of Alaska, Donna (Dane) Acdal of Honokaa, Lokelani (Paul) Oliveira of Hilo, Haunani (Frank) Lalakea of Kailua Kona; sons, Phillip (Calvin) Hervas of Honolulu, Tony (Leiola) Mitchell of Waimea; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert Smart
Robert James Smart, 67, of Hilo, died Jan. 2 at his residence. Born in Seattle, Wash., he was retired and a member of the Polestar Gardens in Pahoa. Private services held.
Survived by son, Ted Smart; and grandchildren Nathanial and Kevin, Jennifer Smart of Lynnwood, Wash.; siblings, Barbara Smart-Earl, Jeanette Martin and Tom Smart, all of Washington state.

Elizabeth Vandergriff
Elizabeth “Lisa” Ann Vandergriff, 63, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 30 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 29, 1954, in San Francisco, Calif., she was a retired controller for The Superior Group in Anchorage, Alaska, member of Construction Finance Management Accounting Association and a certified SCUBA instructor for Alaska Underwater Adventures Inc.
Private service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity of choice.
She is survived by husband, Jerry Vandergriff of Kailua-Kona; stepsons, Robert (Leah) Vandergriff of Anchorage, Alaska, William Vandergriff of Minneapolis, Minn.; brother, Daniel (Glenda) Marrett of North Carolina; five grandchildren, two nephews and many friends.

Stevan Swall
Stevan Anthony Swall, 55, of Keaau, died Feb. 18, 2018 at home. He was born in Glendale, Calif. and was a plumber with Drainpipe Plumbing &Solar. Private services held.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Swall of Keaau; father, Donald Swall, Jr. of Eureka, Calif.; and mother, Jacqulyn (George) Swall of Simi Valley, Calif.
