Person who shot donkey needs to be held accountable

I was so sad to hear the news about Mele being killed. What idiot shoots at chickens? Suppose it had been a child or adult who was hit by the bullet, would the police be so willing to let it go as an accident? I think the person who shot the donkey should be prosecuted and fined heavily for his reckless behavior.

The socialism I experienced

I had to laugh after reading the letter of Mr. William F. Johnson about socialism in Sunday’s edition of West Hawaii Today. I was born, raised and lived for 28 years in a so-called socialist country, and unless my memory abandoned me, his description of socialism is not what I experienced. There were no worker-owned businesses, everything was owned by the government. The government that took away the businesses my father successfully built, and the government that made him the “manager” of one of those businesses. Mr. Johnson, if you promote this kind of structure, then you should not live in the USA.
