Holoholo Ministries hosted its bi-annual For Kona From Kona Indoor Soccer Tournament at the Old Airport Park hockey rink from Friday to Sunday.
The 7-on-7 tournament was started in 2013 by Summer Butindaro, a Kealakehe High School graduate, and serves as a scholarship fundraiser, allowing graduating seniors from West Hawaii schools a chance to fulfill their dream of playing soccer at the college level.
Past winners of the scholarship include standouts such as Konawaena’s Taiana Tolleson, who started six games for Vanderbilt University last season, and Kealakehe’s Laukoa Santos, who plays for San Diego State, and is the first player from the state of Hawaii to play in the Pac-12.
