HVO: Lava about half-mile from Isaac Hale park

The laze plume rises where lava pours into the sea on the south margin of the fissure 8 flow. This southern boundary did not change location appreciably in the past day, remaining about 900 m (0.56 mile) from the Pohoiki boat ramp at Isaac Hale Park. (US Geological Survey/courtesy photo)

The southern boundary of the flow front at the ocean entry of lava from Kilauea volcano’s lower East Rift Zone remained a little more than a half-mile away from Isaac Hale Beach Park and Pohoiki boat ramp on Sunday, according to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
