On Tuesday, Enterprise Holdings presented a donation to HOPE Services Hawaii. HOPE is a statewide nonprofit agency designed to help homeless families and individuals attain the skills needed to maximize their potential, succeed in permanent housing and achieve self-sufficiency. Last month, community organizers celebrated the spirit of collaboration as they officially dedicated a new micro-housing facility for residents displaced by the ongoing Kilauea lava flow in lower Puna. The Sacred Heart Shelter, composed of 20 120-square-foot tiny houses, was erected in less than a month on land located below Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pahoa. Brandee Menino, CEO of HOPE Services Hawaii, said the project came together swiftly thanks to the cooperative efforts of community groups. “It takes a community; there’s no way HOPE Services could do this on their own.” Courtesy photo
