Land fund cut looks like Honolulu
When the Hawaii voters initiative designating 2 percent funding for open space became law, what did our representatives not understand?
Our legislators need to respect the will of the people and quit trying to drain this funding. If they are that bad at manipulating funds, I can think of no better place to cut expenses than their totally bloated salaries. If they can’t do what is best for the people they represent, then use their glorified salaries to fix their budget. Problem solved.
We don’t have to end up like Honolulu.

Poll musings
I was filing a news release this morning and noticed there is a Tribune-Herald readers poll asking what year Hawaii became a State — 1959, 1924, 1936 and one other year, but there was no poll button for those who question the legality of America annexing a sovereign nation, so therefore your poll is obviously skewed and does not give an option to not agree Hawaii is a state.
I have the right to my opinion, I appreciate the Tribune-Herald and West Hawaii Today printing my letters, and would like the public to notice those certain pseudo-named online commenters who always post the same things no matter what the issue is — they blame Democrats and Harry Kim for ruin everything, or call me “sara ruggles” and talk about smoking weed, but they never ever, ever offer any specific constructive posts about anything.

Why double payments up?
Some of us already pay sewer fees connected to water consumption.
All of Paniolo Estate, new affordable homes, and Kekumu affordable housing in Waikoloa are paying Hawaii Water Service Company for water and sewer service.
If the county raises property taxes to pay for county sewer fees, we should be paying twice for wastewater treatment while others pay once. Hopefully, the council members who are suggesting the property tax hike to pay for county sewer cost will take the time to educate themselves further before advocating their positions.
