Voter registration deadline is July 10

The Office of Elections and County Clerks of Hawaii remind individuals that the last day to register to vote in the primary election is July 10.

Currently, the state has more than 700,000 registered voters. To be eligible to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Hawaii and at least 18 years old. Hawaii law allows for 16 year olds to preregister, but they must be 18 years on Election Day to vote.

Registered voters that have changed their name or moved since the last election should reregister before the voter registration deadline.

Completed voter registration forms must be turned in to the appropriate Clerk by 4:30 p.m. or postmarked by July 10 if mailed.

The primary election is Aug. 9.

The deadline to register for the general election is Oct. 6.
