Tutu’s House

Advanced Ukulele meets every Tuesday from 9:30-11 a.m. with Aunty Marjie Spencer, and welcomes experienced players of all ages to bring their ukulele and join in a morning of friendship and song.

Tutu’s House Writers’ Support Group meets every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon. Interested persons are invited to join new writers and published authors of many genres: fiction, non-fiction, essays and poetry. Participants share something they are currently working on with the group in an encouraging place to explore their writing voice.

Knitting & Knitting Support is every Tuesday from 12:30-3 p.m. with Gretchen Geisler, a lifetime knitter. This class is for all skill levels ages 10 to adult and. Bring projects, get knitting questions answered and visit with other knitters. Beginners will be guided into a suitable project.

Hawaiian Healing Yoga will be this Saturday, led by Stacey Lanterman M.A., from 10:30 a.m.-noon. Let the rhythm of the island soothe the soul in this truly unique Hawaii-inspired yoga experience. The practice includes Hawaiian music, oli (chant), and Aloha Spirit, combined with a traditional gentle yoga class and guided healing meditation. It is designed to dissolve tension in the body, promote relaxation for the mind and spirit and honor place. Come relax, unwind and learn more about deepening your practice through YTT certification.

Beginner’s Yoga will be held from 4-5 p.m. Sept. 5 with Kiyomi Falcon. Yoga has both preventive and therapeutic benefits. It increases body awareness, relieves chronic stress patterns and muscle strain, relaxes mind and body, centers attention, sharpens concentration and frees the spirit.

Caregiving Conversations will meet on Sept. 6 from 11 a.m.-noon with professional caregiver Karyn Clay. Whether you are a caregiver by heart, hire or relationship, join fellow caregivers in sharing stories, support and inspiration.

Ancient Yoga with Deanna Olivier will gather from 11 a.m.-noon on Sept. 6 and 13. This practice includes physical, mental and spiritual discipline for developing awareness, character and consciousness. It is an integrated system of exercise, breath control and meditation combining yoga postures with breathing techniques for a vigorous workout.

Freedom from Pain Support Group meets from 12:30-2 p.m. every Thursday with Cynthia Magg, EFT practitioner. Say “adios” to aches and pains that deplete energy and disrupt life. Join this weekly EFT tapping support group. Whether pain is old, new, acute, injury or disease-related, the quality of life can be improved. Weekly sessions are combined with mind-body-emotions concepts that will empower participants to access their body’s innate ability to self-heal. No prior EFT experience is necessary.

Chair Yoga meets from 9:30-10:30 a.m. every Friday with Michiko Sato, CYT. This gentle, yoga-in-a-chair practice is designed to stretch and strengthen the body without standing or lying on a mat. Class may also include some easy standing poses behind the chair.

Overeaters Anonymous is held from noon-1 p.m. every Friday. OA is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope, are recovering from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors. OA welcomes anyone who wishes to stop eating compulsively.

Scrabble Meetup gathers from 1:30-4 p.m. every Friday with Annabel Spielman. Word lovers of every age and skill level are encouraged to play this classic game with relaxed rules. Dictionary use is permitted. It’s a great way to retain and expand vocabulary, spelling, memory and observation skills in a congenial atmosphere.
