Cancer Support Group for Women will meet from 12:30—2 p.m. this Wednesday. Whether a survivor, currently in treatment, recently diagnosed, or coping with the effects of cancer on a loved one, all are invited to join this group to discover the power of healing through connection with others who share a common bond.

How to Rewire the Brain for More Happiness will gather from 4—5 p.m. this Wednesday with JonMarie Kaulele, a medical support clinical hypnotherapist. Learn practices from today’s brain science leaders that are helpful for stress and trauma relief. Lessen the effects of chronic pain, emotional challenges, digestive issues and more. Experience how to align inner brain and body resources to promote health and wellness and create more peaceful confidence to support healthy lifestyle changes. For enhanced benefit, bring pillows and a cozy throw blanket.

Family Support Group facilitated by Community Children’s Council will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. this Wednesday. Parents and caregivers of especially challenging children support each other by sharing their successes and challenges. Facilitators provide information on community, state and national resources and guidance on how best to navigate the systems of care for better outcomes for their child and family.

Domestic Violence Awareness will be shared from 11 a.m.-noon this Thursday by South Kohala Community Police Officer May Lee. October is Domestic Violence (DV) Awareness month. All community members are encouraged to attend this educational talk about what DV is, resources available for victims and what can be done to help alleviate this issue that affects the community. Everyone working together — toward zero tolerance — can increase family and domestic health.

Self Massage for Hand and Arm will be held from 10:30-noon this Saturday with Chikako Hoshino-Powers, CMT. The hands contain many acupressure and reflexology points, which are associated with organs and certain parts of the body. This self-care healing massage technique provides immediate health benefits, such as improved range of motion, enhanced circulation and pain reduction. Bring one large, two hand towels and a favorite hand cream, if available.
