Iwao “Naka” Nakamura, 91, of Pahala died Dec. 22, 2012, at Ka‘u Hospital. Born April 23, 1921, in Pahala, he was retired from Ka‘u Sugar Co., a World War II Army veteran serving with Company I 442nd Regimental Combat Team and member of Pahala Hongwanji Mission, Pahala Senior Citizens, ILWU Pensioners Club, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by wife, Ayako Nakamura of Pahala; sons, Todd Nakamura of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Kent Nakamura of Las Vegas; daughter, Jean (Mark) Miyashiro, of Mililani, Oahu; sisters, Kimiko Nomura of Kurtistown, Nobuko Aoki of Captain Cook, Shizuko Kibe of Waipahu, Oahu, Asano (Alfred) Tokunaga, of Los Angeles; brother, Keiji (Doris) Nakamura of Honolulu; a granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
