Konawaena pounds Pahoa

Ryan Torres-Torioka went 5-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored, and five Konawaena pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout as the Wildcats defeated Pahoa 29-0 in a Big Island Interscholastic Federation baseball game Saturday at Wong Stadium.

The contest ended after five innings because of the league’s 10-run mercy rule.

Zane Gray pitched one hitless inning to pick up the win for Konawaena (2-0 BIIF, 3-0 overall). He struck out two batters.

Jarrett Kitaoka was 4-for-4 with a double, while Kileona Manzano and Vinny Chang both went 3-for-4.

The Daggers dropped to 0-2, 0-5.
