Kawaihae Road is now open to both directions of travel, according to the Hawaii Fire Department.

The road was restricted to one lane of travel shortly after 11 a.m. while fire crews worked to douse a small brush fire, said Battalion Chief Ty Medeiros.

The fire is now extinguished, he added.
