Agreement dismissed charges
Clarifying a Feb. 17 Page 11A brief about a deferred prosecution agreement, Sharon Louise Selwyn said the agreement she signed dismissed charges of making a false report to law enforcement concerning an alleged 2005 sexual assault.
Selwyn entered into the deferred prosecution agreement with Hawaii County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ricky Damerville on Jan. 30, according to 3rd Circuit Court records. The agreement followed Selwyn’s successful appeal of a 2009 false reporting conviction to the state Intermediate Court of Appeals, which remanded the case for retrial after finding the prosecutor’s remarks “improper.”
