The University of Hawaii will play its first Mountain West Conference game against a familiar foe.
The Warriors will host Nevada on Sept. 22 at Aloha Stadium in matchup of former Western Atheltic Conference rivals. The Mountain West unveiled its schedule Friday.
UH is scheduled to play six games apiece at home and on the road, but with two open dates, athletic director Jim Donovan said that could change.
“Now that the Mountain West schedule is out, we’ll see if there are any teams interested in coming to Hawaii on either of our two open dates,” Donovan said. “We’ll schedule them as long as we can reach a reasonable deal, but if not, we’ll play a 12-game schedule. I don’t want to play a seventh road game.”
The Warriors open the season on the road Sept. 1 against Southern California, which likely will be ranked in the preseason top five. New Warriors coach Norm Chow was the offensive coordinator for the Trojans when they won the BCS national championship in 2004.
Boise State, which won at least a share of the WAC title in its final three years in the conference from 2008-10, visits Aloha Stadium on Nov. 10.
