Kenkichi “Bilson” Hashimoto, 79, of Pahala, died March 19 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ka‘u, he was a retired truck driver for the former Kau Sugar Co. and member of Thy Word Ministries Ka‘u Faith Center, United States Tennis Association, Punaluu Tennis Gang and Umpires Association.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. March 23 at the Naalehu Hongwanji Hall. An all-night vigil follows at his residence in Pahala (96-1255 Hinano St.). Friends may call again at 9 a.m. March 24 at the Naalehu Hongwanji Hall for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at the Naalehu Community Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by brothers, Susumu (Nancy) Hashimoto, of Kaneohe, Oahu, Charles (Eunice) Hashimoto, of Waiohinu; sisters, Suzuko Yamamoto, of Naalehu, Sandra (Fred) Saiki, of Aiea, Oahu; sons, Glen Hashimoto, of Ocean View, Crispin (Decky) Navarro, of Pahala, Larry Navarro, of Seal Beach, Calif., Vince (Monica) Hashimoto, of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Velma (Ryan Yoshida) Kekoa, of Hilo, Darlene Hashimoto, of Ka‘u, Rose Marie Navarro, Rose Mary Navarro, Deanna (Remy Villa) Navarro and Candy (Ryan Pascubillo) Hashimoto, all of Pahala; stepsons, Jery Navarro and Jesse (Sweetheart) Navarro, both of Kailua-Kona, Duane (Tess) Breithaupt, of Waiohinu, Blaine (Christina) Navarro, of Naalehu; stepdaughters, Ruth (Nasi) Fernandez, of Kailua-Kona, Shannon (Harry) Flores, Roseanne (Ed) Yokoyama and Elvira Paiva, all of Hilo, Annie (Mahi) Navarro, of Ocean View; hanai son, Luigi Nunziata, of Las Vegas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
