Big Island police are asking for the public’s help locating a 22-year-old Puna man wanted for questioning in connection with an October shooting in Puna.
The Hawaii Police Department identified Misinale Kalavi Jr. of the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision, as a “person of interest” in connection with an Oct. 22 shooting of a man who was driving on Highway 130 near Ainaloa.
The 36-year-old man suffered a head injury after an occupant inside a teal-colored sedan reportedly shot at him, according to police, who noted the victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center, treated for his injuries and released. Following the incident, the sedan and several men inside left the scene.
Kalavi, who is known to frequent the Kona and Puna areas, is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 280 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, according to police. The public should not approach Kalavi.
