Honokaa students take a ‘field’ trip

Students from Honokaa High and Intermediate School’s Agriculture and Hawaiian Dance and Language classes recently visited Ulu Mau Puanui on Kohala Mountain. Students spent the day working with Ala Lindsey and Kehau Marshall.

Students learned about the site where Hawaiians engineered the field walls, resulting in an impressive intensive rain-fed agricultural field system of sweet potatoes.

Students also cleared a section of experimental sweet potato plots.
