Five students from Holualoa Elementary School received awards of distinction from the Donkey Mill Art Center. The artists were recognized for their exceptional drawings during a recent school assembly. Josiah Davis won first place, Maile Grace took second, Kaitlyn Gladder was the third place winner, and Klara Obbard and Tia Lurbiech each received honorable mentions.
The collaboration between the Donkey Mill Art Center and Holualoa Elementary School is made possible through a grant from the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts. This funding brings professional artists together with classroom teachers in order to integrate art education into the curriculum of core academic subjects.
