Mauna Kea, Hapuna earn awards
The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and its sister property the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, have been named to Travel + Leisure magazine’s “World’s Best Awards” 2012 rankings.
Of the 25 hotels from Hawaii that made the list, Hapuna ranked 13th and Mauna Kea 14th. On the Big Island they ranked third and fourth, behind the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, which was No. 1 in the state.
The award is based on readers’ surveys revealing favorite hotels, cities, islands, airlines, cruise lines, car-rental agencies, spas, outfitters and tour operators. The hotels are based on the following characteristics: rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value.
The award announcement will be published in the August issue of the magazine.
