All Kona Community Hospital Auxiliary members and anyone interested in becoming a volunteer are invited to attend the group’s semiannual meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Kona Vistas Pavilion on Lako Street, mauka of Queen Kaahumanu Highway.
Representatives from the hospital’s administration, board and foundation, as well as many volunteers will share information and discuss exactly what the Auxiliary provides for the hospital.

Youth pickleball
classes offered
Children between the ages of 9 and 14 may register for pickleball classes sponsored by the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Pickleball, a combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis, is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States.
Classes are planned from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Aug. 14 through the end of September, on the outdoor basketball courts next to Kekuaokalini Gymnasium.
Adults interested in learning the sport are encouraged to play from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Seniors swapping sandwiches Wednesday
The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai for a “Sandwich Swap” — take a wrapped sandwich to the meeting — and game time.
