Vennie “Pearl” Brodo, 73, of Hilo, died Aug. 13 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Feb. 22, 1939, in Honolulu; she was a trimmer for Hawaiian Pine (known as Hawaiian Pineapple Co./ Dole Corp.) and member of Glad Tidings Church in Hilo.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 31 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. celebration of life. Flowers and lei are welcome. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by sons, Dwight Richards, of Hilo, Ricky (Deborah) Brodo, of Mountain View, Emery Patcil, of Waianae, Oahu, Ike Brodo, of Rockford, Ill., Jorge (Chong) Brodo, of Perryville, Md.; daughters, Doreen (Dereck) Nakoa, of Kapolei, Oahu, Stephanie (Steve) Lamon, of McHenry, Ill., Germaine (Allison) Yano, of Hilo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
