Jets’ Revis has mild
concussion, status uncertain
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets hope they won’t be without Darrelle Revis for too long.
Especially with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ speedy wide receivers up next.
The Jets announced Monday that Revis has a “mild concussion,” and his status for the team’s game at Pittsburgh on Sunday was uncertain.
A player can’t practice or play until he is cleared by the team doctor and the team’s independent neurological consultant.
Revis was injured midway through the fourth quarter of the Jets’ 48-28 victory over the Buffalo Bills when he landed on his stomach when he dived to tackle C.J. Spiller and was then accidentally kicked in the head by teammate Bart Scott. Revis stayed down for a few moments as trainers ran out to tend to him.
Browns’ Haden
suspended 4 games
BEREA, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns had Joe Haden for one game. They’ll be without their best cornerback for the next four.
Haden was suspended Monday without pay for four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances. Haden’s suspension begins immediately, and he will not be eligible to return to the Browns’ active roster until Monday, Oct. 8, one day after they play at the New York Giants.
Haden, who reportedly tested positive in the offseason for the stimulant Adderall, played in Sunday’s season opener against Philadelphia. He had an interception and six tackles in Cleveland’s 17-16 loss.
Haden recently had his appeal heard on the suspension. The league does not announce suspensions until after the appeal process is complete to protect the player’s privacy.

Texas Tech coach
Billy Gillispie on sick leave
LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech coach Billy Gillispie is on indefinite sick leave while his bosses investigate allegations that he mistreated his players during practices.
Athletics department spokesman Blayne Beal said Monday that Gillispie is taking sick days and it was not clear how long he will be out. The Texas native who is entering his second year as coach of the Red Raiders did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
The school announced Aug. 31 that it had opened an investigation into alleged mistreatment of players by Gillispie. Earlier that day and hours before he was to meet with athletic director Kirby Hocutt, Gillispie called 911 and was taken to a Lubbock hospital. He told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal he thought he was having a heart attack or a stroke. He was released after six days in the hospital.
Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira
out 10 days to 2 weeks
NEW YORK — Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is expected to be sidelined for 10 days to two weeks, missing most of the rest of the regular season.
Teixeira returned to the lineup Saturday in Baltimore, his first appearance since Aug. 27, and reinjured the calf of the final play of the game diving into first base. While he appeared to beat the ball and avoid a game-ending double play, he was called out by umpire Jerry Meals.
Teixeira was examined Monday by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad, and an MRI showed an irritation of his grade 1 left calf strain.
