basketball, judo coaches
Keaau High School is accepting applications for boys and girls head basketball coaches and head judo. Anyone interested may pick up an application at the school’s main office during regular office hours.

Beginner golf
classes for women
Golf professional Rob Wohlgemuth will offer a five-week series of beginner golf lessons for women at Makalei Golf Club beginning Oct. 13.
The classes are open to all women interested in the basics of golf. Classes meet five consecutive Saturdays from 8 to 10 a.m.
The cost for all five classes is $50. To enroll, call Wohlgemuth at 937-0130.
Agena basketball
camp Oct. 12-14
Coach Dennis Agena, of Kalakaua Basketball, and his staff will conduct a three-day youth basketball clinic Oct. 12-14 at the county gym in Honokaa.
Children ages 6-18 may participate. Sponsored by the Hamakua Athletic Association, the clinic will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 13 and 8 a.m to 4 p.m. Oct. 14. Times may vary based on the number of participants.
Players need to bring a basketball, basketball shoes, water and proper playing attire. The registration fee is $60. Registration and waiver forms are available at Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation offices, Ted’s Garage in Honokaa and Sports Line in Hilo.

Pagan will discuss the ninth annual Kukio Blue Water Swim, which will be held Oct. 6. Pagan serves as race director.
Longtime wheelchair athlete Bob Slattery will discuss his involvement in wheelchair street races and his stem-cell implant that allowed him to begin rehabilitation on a stationary bicycle.
Gail will discuss the recent announcement that the Mauna Lani Resort will sponsor and host the Aloha Section PGA Hawaii State Open for the next three years. Also, 42-year talk show veteran Ron Cameron will join the discussion.
