Camp Tarawa Marines meet Saturday
The Camp Tarawa Detachment 1255 of the Marine Corps League meets Saturday at Banjy’s Paradise Bar and Grill at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course. A no-host lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by the business meeting at 1 p.m. All serving, retired or reserve Marines and Navy corpsmen and their spouses are invited; dress is resort casual.

meeting Saturday
West Hawaii Woodturners, the local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners, meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the PacRim Tempering Building, 73-4260 Hulikoa Drive, Kailua-Kona.
Guests of all skill levels are welcome. Bring a chair and lunch.

Pumpkin Patch
slated for Sunday
Hawaii Preparatory Aca-demy’s Ohana Association invites everyone to its 21st annual Pumpkin Patch Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The festival, located on HPA’s upper campus at the corner of Kohala Mountain and Kawaihae roads in Waimea, offers free entry and parking, a huge pumpkin patch with more than 500 pumpkins, games and prizes, food booths, a silent auction and live entertainment.
The silent auction includes special trips, gift items, collectibles, rounds of golf, fine dining, resort stays, island adventures, a variety of art, gift baskets and more. The auction closes at 2 p.m.
Free entertainment will be featured throughout the day, including performances by Lorenzo’s Army, Honokaa High School Jazz Band and Te Ea O Te Turama Tahitian Dance and HPA studens.
Games and activities include a climbing wall, party bouncers and horseback rides from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; fishing booth; face painting; dunking booth; train rides; haunted house; Lele-kine Bungee Trampoline and more.
Food booths will be plentiful including hamburgers, hot dogs, Caesar salad, nachos, caramel apples, Kettle corn and more. Local favorites like lau lau, shoyu chicken and Asian fare will also be available. Again this year, the Ka Makani football team is hosting a chili cook-off with several renowned, local chefs participating. A farmers market, bake sale, beverages, Braddah Pops and ice cream are also offered.
