Shizue Kawai, 103, of Hilo died Oct. 14 at a private care home in Hilo. Born and raised in Hilo, she was a homemaker.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by daughters, Elaine (Larry) Nishida of Honolulu, Amy (Clifford) Kaminaka of Hilo; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; caregiver, Saithorn Heffron of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.
