Heavy showers along the southeastern portion of the Big Island have prompted the National Weather Service in Honolulu to issue a short-term advisory.
The heavy showers are affecting the Pahala and Wood Valley areas of Ka‘u, according to the service’s 10:37 a.m. forecast. Additional showers are also developing over Hilo and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The service warns that heavy rain will cause flooding. Motorists are advised to drive with caution.
