Mae Sayoko Ida, 79, of Captain Cook died Dec. 9 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 19, 1933, in Honolulu, she was a retired business representative for Hawaiian Tel and the “proud mom” of Kona Chips.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 22 at Kona Hongwanji Mission in Kealakekua for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by sons, Jerome (Cindee) Furukawa and Dean Furukawa, both of Captain Cook, Damon (Karen) Furukawa of Kailua-Kona; brother, Gilbert (Mary Ellen) Takaoka of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Elaine Chong of Kaneohe, Oahu, Dolly Jane (Francis) Nomura of Manoa, Oahu; four grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
