Habitat families receive computers
Habitat for Humanity International is partnering with Redemtech, a world leader in refurbishing personal computers from businesses. Redemtech has committed to provide computers for 10,000 Habitat for Humanity partner families through its Microsoft Approved Refurbishing computer program.
Through the program, Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii was able to provide 14 families with laptop computers.
The organization also received a grant from the Women’s Fund of Hawaii aimed at helping its partner families increase their self-sufficiency by upgrading their employment skills.
Hospice volunteer training offered
North Hawaii Hospice is offering volunteer training classes from 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 15, 16, 22 and 23 in Waimea. Attendance at all sessions is required to become a certified hospice volunteer.
Dinner will be provided at the first three classes with a potluck planned for the fourth. Hospice volunteer Norman Piianaia and volunteer coordinator Catrinka Holland will co-facilitate the training.
Volunteers help in many areas, including visiting patients, providing respite care and helping with events.
For more information or to register, call Holland at 930-6625.
