Thomas Kawaihau Kelekolio, 78, of Honaunau, died Jan. 6, 2013, at his residence. Born in Honaunau on Sept. 27, 1934, he was a fisherman, coffee farmer, and retired heavy equipment operator for the state Highway Division and J.M. Tanaka. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local 3, St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and a Korean War veteran.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. Jan. 25 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church Hall for a wake service. Friends may also call Jan. 26 at the church for an 8 a.m. viewing and Mass 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers are welcome.
He is survived by wife, Fay Kelekolio of Honaunau; son, Kahekili Kelekolio of Honaunau; daughters, Juliana Kelekolio of Ocean View, Angel (Arnie) Jacobsen-Kelekolio of Cannon Beach, Ore., Jackie Au of Ocean View; brother, Gabriel Kelekolio of Molokai; sister, Virginia Hoomana of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
