Margaret “Peggy” McCamant Alexander, 65, of Hidden Valley Lake, Calif., and formerly of Kona, died March 4, 2013, at her home. Born Oct. 3, 1947, she was an artist, arts advocate, West Hawaii Today reporter, ALS Association volunteer, as well as a Napa Register reporter, section editor and contributing columnist. She was also active in several arts organizations, serving as a board member of the Hawaii Alliance on Arts in Education, Hawaii Arts Council and the Kahilu Theater Foundation, president of the Kona Arts Council, and charter chairperson of the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Culture and the Arts.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association or to the Forbes Norris ALS/MDS Research and Treatment Center in San Francisco.
She is survived by husband, Scott Alexander of Hidden Valley Lake, Calif.; stepdaughters, Melisa (Steve) Hubbard of Minnesota, Kathryn (Jim) Burgess of New York; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
