Alan Stanley Axelrod, 89, of Hawi died April 1, 2013, at Ano Ano Care Home. Born Feb. 4, 1924, in Boston, he was a retired textile executive and past president and founding director of Kohala Hospital Charitable Foundation.
Private services were held. Memorial donations may be made to Kohala Hospital Charitable Foundation or North Hawaii Hospice.
He is survived by sons, Glenn (Nitza Avni) Axelrod of Framingham, Mass., Andrew (Liam Thayer) Axelrod of San Francisco, Bart (Sue) Axelrod of Barrington, R.I., Jim (Jody) Rosen of St. Maarten; daughters, Lila (Ian Thring) Rosen of St. Maarten, Karen (Bob Martin) Rosen of Hawi; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
