Haruo “Harry” Iwashita, 88, of Hilo died April 6, 2013, in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired social worker with the state Department of Health and a World War II Army veteran.

Private family services were held. Family requests no flowers.

He is survived by daughter, Noreen (Russell) Ogawa of Oahu; sisters, Haruko Akiyama of Keaau, Amy (George) Kamiyama of California; brothers, Henry (Anne) Iwashita of Oahu, Frank (Mitsuko) Iwashita of California; one granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
