No fatalities were reported following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Queen Kaahumanu Highway in the vicinity of Kiholo Bay.
A southbound sedan driven by a man apparently had pulled to the side of the highway and attempted a U-turn when he was struck by a southbound pickup truck, said Hawaii Police Department Area II Maj. Mitchell Kanehailua. The crash, just south of mile marker 82, was reported at 6:42 a.m.
Police diverted traffic around the crash, and Queen Kaahumanu Highway was not closed. All crews had left the scene by 8:30 a.m.
The driver of the sedan, believed to be a visitor, was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital, said Kanehailua. An update on his condition was not available as of press time.
The driver of the truck was not injured, he said.
