Sumie Matsumoto Kidani, 89, of Paauilo and North Kohala died May 1, 2013, at her North Kohala home. Born Sept. 30, 1923, in Paauhau Mauka, she was a homemaker and member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Honokaa Congregation.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. May 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by daughters, Susan Uribe of Papaaloa, Carol (David) Fuertes of North Kohala; sons, Laurence Kidani of Paauilo, Myron (Julie) Kidani of Kalopa; brothers, Hiroshi (Helen) Matsumoto and George (Elaine) Matsumoto, both of Honolulu, Donald (Carol) Matsumoto of Maui; sisters, Jane Osako of Honokaa, Sadako Koga and Yoshie (Alex) Okada, both of Waimea, Hideko (Dr. James) Miyashiro, Alice (Henry) Nakahodo and Arline Matsumoto, all of Honolulu; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
