Moped rider in good condition following Holualoa wreck

A 51-year-old man was listed in good condition at Kona Community Hospital Friday following a 2-vehicle collision Thursday afternoon in Holualoa.

The man was apparently operating a southbound moped on Mamalahoa Highway, also known as Highway 180, when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Toyota Camry fronting the Kona Imin Center shortly after 1 p.m., according to the Hawaii Police Department. He was transported to Kona Community Hospital where he remained Friday morning.

Two occupants in the sedan were not injured, according to police. The highway was not closed during the incident.
