Police arrested 29 motorists between May 13 and Sunday for drunken driving. Ten of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes. Four were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 515 DUI arrests compared with 550 during the same period last year, a decrease of 6.4 percent.
There have been 519 major accidents so far this year compared with 589 during the same period last year, a decrease of 11.9 percent.
So far this year, there were 13 traffic fatalities on Hawaii Island compared with 14 during the same period last year, a decrease of 7.1 percent.
To date, one fatality was drug-related, one was alcohol-related and two were related to drugs and alcohol.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
