Magic try to follow Howard trade with lottery luck
NEW YORK — Pat Williams is pretty good at being lucky, and he’s got a hunch.
“I got a funny feeling that this could be another Magic year, here. For some reason, I’ve just got the feel,” Williams said.
Orlando sure could use it.
Following a difficult first season after trading Dwight Howard, the Magic are hoping Williams can bring them more lottery luck.
Armed with the best odds and their three-time winner back on stage, the Magic will try to jump-start the rebuilding process Tuesday night by landing the rights to the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft.
Williams has won four times, including victories in 1992, ‘93 and 2004 with the Magic. They used the most recent one to draft Howard, and no team since has entered with the best odds and won the lottery.
Giants RHP Vogelsong breaks hand, out 4-6 weeks
SAN FRANCISCO — Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong has broken his pitching hand while batting against the Washington Nationals.
Vogelsong broke two bones along his pinkie and dislocated a knuckle in the same area when he fouled off a pitch in the fifth inning Monday night. He is scheduled for surgery Tuesday and expected to miss four to six weeks.
Vogelsong had a 6-0 lead when he got hurt and earned the win in San Francisco’s 8-0 victory, his first since April 11. He grimaced in pain and grabbed his hand after the swing. Manager Bruce Bochy and a member of the training staff came out to check on him, and Vogelsong quickly left the game to a warm ovation from the sellout crowd.

A phone message was left with the Avalanche.
Colorado fired coach Joe Sacco on April 28 after a season in which the team finished last in the Western Conference.
Chad Johnson arrested for probation violation
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson has been arrested on charges that he violated probation stemming from an altercation with his now ex-wife, TV reality star Evelyn Lozada.
Johnson was jailed Monday morning by a Broward County judge and later released after posting $1,000 bail. Another hearing was set for June 3. An arrest warrant was issued earlier this month when Johnson failed to meet his probation officer.
The six-time Pro Bowl player formerly known as Chad Ochocinco is serving a year of probation after Lozada said he head-butted her during an argument last August. She quickly filed for divorce. They had been married only since July 4.
Johnson was released by the Miami Dolphins after the incident. Lozada is on the “Basketball Wives” TV show.
Mexico prohibits multiple soccer teams ownership
MEXICO CITY — The owners of the 18 Mexican first-division soccer clubs have voted to bar one person or one company from owning more than one team.
The vote is an apparent move to stop tycoon Carlos Slim from expanding his growing influence in Mexican soccer.
Mexico’s largest broadcasters, Televisa and TV Azteca, have in the past owned multiple first-division teams but the issue wasn’t brought up until after Slim ventured into Mexican soccer in September.
