Sakae Tanaka, 87, of Laupahoehoe died May 22, 2013, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born April 8, 1926, in Laupahoehoe, he was the proprietor of the former Seaside Service Station, a retired automobile mechcani for Laupahoehoe Sugar Co. and member of Papaaloa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers or monetary offerings.
He is survived by wife, Shizue Tanaka of Laupahoehoe; daughters, Renee (Gary) Nishioku of Aiea, Oahu, Faith (Allen) Gourley of New Bethlehem, Pa.; brother, George (Nellie) Tanaka of Fairfield, Calif.; sisters, Masako Okamura of Laupahoehoe, Bernice Tomiyama of Pepeekeo, Tsuyako (Takao) Fujitani of Aiea, Oahu, Elsie (James) Doherty of Orlando, Fla., Carole (Hardy) Tsutsumi of Hilo; five grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
