John “J.C.” Clyde Johnson, 84, of Papaikou died June 29, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 3, 1929, in Garber, Okla., he was a retired dock operator for Petrospect, farmer in the Midwest, handyman and member of Hilo United Methodist Church, Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, Peanut Butter Ministry and Boy Scouts of America.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. July 6 at Hilo United Methodist Church for an 11 a.m. service. A potluck follows. Family requests aloha attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Ellen Johnson of Papaikou; sons, Mark (Inez) Johnson of Papaiko, David Johnson of Destin, Fla.; daughter, Margaret Johnson of Papaikou; sister, Virginia (Al) Bracken of Belton, Mo.; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
