Fast-moving brush fire prompts closure of Kona road

Fire crews are now responding to a fast-moving runaway brush fire on Hulikoa Drive, above Matsuyama Store on Queen Kaahumanu Higway in Kailua-Kona.

The fire is reportedly heading mauka and north toward Lokahi Makai Apartments. No structures are threatened at this time, authorities reported.

Hulikoa Drive is currently closed.
