Kealakehe Learning Center offers homework help
Kealakehe High’s Waverider Learning Center is offering free homework help in the school’s library starting Monday and running through Dec. 13. Students must complete an application to participate, with parental consent. Applications are available in the main office, the library or online at khswaveriders.org.
The center is open from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when school is in session. Students are required to sign in and out daily and spend all sessions in the library.
Transportation is provided to designated areas, including Waikoloa, for $30 per quarter. Students with reduced lunch pay $15 per quarter. There is no charge for students with free lunch. The quarter ends Dec. 13. Fees will be collected on or prior to the first day the student attends the Learning Center.
All school rules and regulations apply. Violation of these rules may result in school suspension or dismissal from the Learning Center.

County offers
yoga classes
The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation offers ongoing gentle yoga classes in West Hawaii. Gentle yoga includes a series of stretches and breathing techniques to relax the body and mind and reduce stress.
Gentle yoga classes are held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Mondays and Fridays at Hale Halawai; from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays in South Kona. Chair yoga is offered from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Fridays at Hale Halawai.
Classes are $5 each, payable at the beginning of each class. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, beach towel and water. Some yoga mats are available.

Codependent women’s group meets Monday
A Co-Dependents Anonymous Women’s Meeting is slated from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Unity Church sanctuary, 75-5722 Hanama Place, across from Big Island Grill.
CoDA is a nonprofit organization supported by the contributions of attending members.
Lyman Museum hosts Gemini talk
The Gemini Observatory, with a telescope on Mauna Kea and another in Chile, makes simultaneous study of the skies above the northern and southern hemispheres possible. Michael Hoenig will give a presentation about the state-of-the-art work being carried out by scientists with the observatory at 7 p.m. Monday at the Lyman Museum in Hilo.
Admission is free to museum members and $3 for nonmembers.

Foster care seminar slated Tuesday
Kaulana Iokia of Hui Hoomalu and resource caregivers Lani Bowman and Taryn Reiner of Partners in Development Foundation will present a free seminar on becoming a resource family for children in foster care from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kailua-Kona Public Library.
