Harbor Gallery presents a show with Big Island photographer and Parker School graduate Ethan Tweedie from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 1. Light pupu and refreshments will be served.
“Porsche and Perseids” features a number of Tweedie’s celestial masterpieces, as well as some photos taken atop Mauna Kea of gallery owner Gunner Mench’s 1963 Porsche. The car will be on display during the show.
Tweedie was invited by Puukohola Heiau National Historic Site park rangers to photograph the Perseid meteor shower together with the heiau. He captured 160 exposures of 30 seconds in one night. More shots were taken along with Halemaumau’s eruption, capturing meteors, the moon and ghostly surroundings, achieving a view that the naked eye cannot see in the dim light.
Most of the prints are offered, printed on metal, with superb color rendition and crisp clarity.
