A flood advisory has been extended for Hawaii Island until 2:45 p.m. Sunday.
At 11:30 a.m., radar showed heavy rain near Honokaa, according to National Weather Service forecasters. The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary.
Other locations included the advisory are Waipio Valley, Upolu Airport, Mahukona, Kawaihae, Laupahoehoe and Hawi, according to the service.
The public is advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas. Rainfall and runoff will cause hazardous driving conditions because of reduced visibility, ponding and poor braking action.
