Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Sunday morning fire that destroyed a single-family home at the end of Amauulu Road in Hilo.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Sunday morning fire that destroyed a single-family home at the end of Amauulu Road in Hilo.

Responding to a 2:10 a.m. alarm, Hawaii County Fire Department firefighters arrived at the home, which was located at the end of an unpaved road, to find it engulfed in flames. One resident had evacuated prior to the department’s arrival at 2:26 a.m. No injuries were reported.

The fire was declared extinguished at 5:39 a.m. Sunday, according to the department. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
