HONOLULU (AP) — President Barack Obama has announced his nomination for a federal judgeship in Honolulu.
He’s nominating Clare Connors, a private practice trial attorney.
If the Senate confirms her, she will replace U.S. District Court Chief Justice Susan Oki Mollway, who is retiring from active service on Nov. 6.
Connors is a graduate of Punahou School, Yale College and Harvard Law School. Connors previously served as a clerk for U.S. District Judge David Ezra in Honolulu and worked with the tax division of the Justice Department. She has worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in Hawaii.
She was among three Hawaii residents U.S. Sens. Mazie Hirono and Brian Schatz recommended as nominees.
The White House on Tuesday also announced nominees for federal judges in Maryland and Rhode Island.
