No tsunami following earthquake in Indonesia’s Papua region

No tsunami is expected following a magnitude-6.9 earthquake Thursday in the Papua region of Indonesia.

The temblor struck at 5:54 a.m. Hawaii time, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no threat to Hawaii, officials said.
