High surf advisory posted for east-facing shores

A high surf advisory remains posted for east-facing shores of the Big Island through 6 p.m. today.

Wave heights of 5 to 8 feet are expected along the Big Island’s northern, southern and eastern coasts, the National Weather Service said.

Additional northwest swells could affect the island later this week, forecasters said.
