The Kohala Aina Festival, an annual benefit concert and celebration of local harvest, small farmers, and the movement for islandwide food sovereignty, will be held Saturday at Inhabit Farms in North Kohala.
Gates open at 12:30 p.m. and the event, which runs 1-10 p.m., will feature a lineup of international and local musicians, educational workshops, a locally grown Hawaiian style feast, local, organic food vendors, and several family friendly keiki activities. This is a family friendly, drug and alcohol-free event.
Nahko and Medicine for the People, Tubby Love and Hawane Rios will perform, in addition to OKA, Paula Fuga, Paul Izak and Kaahele. Tickets are $45 in advance, $50 at the door, and children 12 and under are admitted free.
The festival is an annual fundraiser to support the Hawaii Institute of Pacific Agriculture, a nonprofit educational organization based in North Kohala. All proceeds from the event support the three core pillars of HIP Agriculture’s programming: Residential Farmer Trainings, Youth Education, and Community Events and Workshops held throughout the year.
